Radical Generosity

GIVE ONLINE

A MOVEMENT OF RADICAL GENEROSITY

It's amazing to see God's creativity, love, and generosity on full display each and every day. Our church family is radically generous with their time, talents, and treasures through so many acts of worship, and we invite you to join us in our movement of radical generosity!

We believe that followers of Christ are called to give of their time whether it be leading with our worship team, donating and transporting goods to ministry partners, or serving with volunteer teams on the weekend. God has given each of us time and talents that are to be used to glorify Him. Followers of Christ are also called to be radically generous with our treasures, which means giving financially to the ministry of the church so we can serve our community and take the Gospel to the world. Each and every act of generosity matters and helps change the lives of others. Everyone's gifts and service are acts of worship that truly bring us all closer to our Creator!

MAKE A PLAN

We say that "Every Christian is to make a plan to radically generous with their local church." Paul tells us this in 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Each person should do as he has decided in his heart-not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver." What is your plan to be radically generous? Below are a couple ways that you can practice radical generosity with your treasures:

1. Give or set up recurring giving online (click here).
2. Set up automated giving through your bank.
3. Check or cash in an offering envelope placed in the black Offering Boxes outside of the Sanctuary.
4. Mail a gift to 4500 Humbert Road, Alton, IL 62002.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  - 2 Corinthians 9:7

Why We Give

As a church, we believe that we are called to respond to the generosity of the gospel by giving extravagantly to the ministry of the Gospel in our community and world. Biblical generosity is not about meeting budget needs. It is about a rich and trusting relationship with a living God. We express our faith and love to Him by honoring Him as the source of everything we have. Scriptural giving is performed with regularity, from the first portion of all we are given, as a proportion of our income, cheerfully, and without pressure or manipulation.

What is Tithing?

In the Gospels, Jesus calls us to be "good stewards" of what God has given us. Everything that we have belongs to the Lord. Tithing is a part of being a good steward. A tithe means "tenth" and we see in Scripture where God calls His people to bring the tithe into the storehouse (the church) in order to do the work of ministry. When we give the first 10% of our income through the local church, we put God first in our lives. Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for others. God also encourages us to give offerings beyond our tithe to specific projects at our local church and to other organizations and causes that we personally believe in.

Designated Gifts

We have several designated funds that you can give to for specific ministries and projects at Heartland. When you give online, just choose the proper fund. Regular tithes and offerings go to the "General Fund".

HBC Mission Fund: help send people on mission trips by writing “missions” in the memo line. If it’s for a particular person, also write their name in memo.

Stewardship Fund: Choose "Stewardship" from the menu in the online giving portal. All gifts to this fund go to help pay of the principal of our debt.
